Longer Bio:

Michelle Cashman is an independent singer, songwriter, and storyteller creating music to connect deeply with her audiences who come from all walks of life.

“I believe everything Michelle Cashman sings. She’s the kind of woman who changes the atmosphere of the room the moment she steps in front of a mic.  That’s a rare gift.” - Lachlan Bryan

Michelle began her musical journey at the age of 14 when she began writing songs, finding music was a powerful way for her to process her world and express herself in the truest way possible. Songwriting has stayed a core practice for Michelle through a topsy-turvy lived experience from youth homelessness, single parenthood, carving out a path as an independent musician, conquering addictions and breaking intergenerational patterns and healing trauma. The result is that her songs and stories are able to touch on a vast range of experiences that resonate with a wide collection of people.

Michelle’s sound can be described as Americana; Acoustic-based folk with a slight country twist that’s centred around heartfelt storytelling. “Michelle Cashman moves you because she always sings directly from the heart… the fact that she has a great voice is a bonus” - Allan Caswell

Michelle appeared as a finalist on The Voice in 2018 as part of Team Boy George. Michelle has previously supported touring artists including Daryl Braithwaite, Beccy Cole, Adam Harvey, Adam Brand, and Paul Kelly

Michelle completed the Senior Country Music Academy in Tamworth, 2020, and attended a host of songwriting retreats that resulted in collaborations with other artists like Lyn Bowtell, Lachlan Bryan and Melody Moko.

Releasing her first official radio release as an independent artist, “Guys Like You”, in February 2020, Michelle debuted at number 2 on the iTunes chart and spend 18 weeks at the top of the official Music Network Radio Airplay Charts, receiving radio play overseas and Australia wide, including CMC, CMT and high rotation on ABC radio and Kix FM.

Her latest offering, a completely acoustic album, “All The Mountains I Must Climb”, is a collection of songs and stories translating the times Michelle has encountered, and overcome, insurmountable odds.

Michelle Cashman gifts audiences a powerful insight into her heart and soul before imparting the knowledge that if she can climb all the mountains she has in her lifetime – so too can you.
