What people are saying…

  • I was assigned the task of delivering my grand daughter to singing lessons with Michelle and wondered if she'd be interested in giving a 68 year old some pointers. Three terms later Michelle has opened up a whole new world for a would be rocker from the 70s. Try it. I really recommend it.

  • I love it! Best thing I've done for myself in ages.

About Lessons

I currently offer songwriting, vocal coaching, performance coaching, beginner guitar and beginner piano.

I also offer music career mentoring for artists who want to release their music but don’t know where to start, and demo recording for those wanting to create their own music.

I teach both children and adults and have worked with a wide variety of people with various skill levels and from age groups. I teach in person at my home in Sussex Inlet on the NSW South Coast as well as via zoom from anywhere in the world. Please note that I only teach singing and songwriting via zoom (though I can refer you to amazing teachers online so don’t hesitate to ask).

I believe that learning should be fun, and use a tailored approach to each individual based on their learning style, their goals and what I believe will fit best to keep each person engaged, having fun and learning as much as possible at the same time. As such ‘results’ will vary, but I really believe that when you instil a love of music and learning then students will grow at the pace that suits them and continue to long term instead of getting frustrated and burning out and giving up.

Music and creativity in general are some of the best things we can do for our mental health and personal development and science backs this up with studies showing that actively engaging in creative pursuits can have a number of positive health outcomes (see below for more).

I am fully insured and have a valid working with children check and have been operating in Sussex Inlet for the past four years and previously in the Southern Highlands at Powerpoint Music. I’ve studied at The Australian Institute of Music in Sydney (Composition and Production), The CMAA Country Music Academy and have been a working performer for over 20 years. I’ve performed on national television through tv shows such as Australian Idol and The Voice (sometimes people get excited about that so feel free to google Michelle Cashman on The Voice and show them the video). I’ve also had songs on high rotation on ABC Country, Triple M Country and film clips played on CMC so if that’s the direction you want to take I can help.
